In short

  • This website collects nothing itself

No forms, no accounts, no cookies from us.

  • Booking runs through Smoobu

That system only loads once you ask for it.

  • Cameras are outdoors only

Over the parking area and the inner courtyard, footage kept one month.

  • Your data is yours

Access, correction or erasure — just ask.

What this website collects itself

Nothing. This website has no contact form, no account, no newsletter and no visitor statistics. We do not place a single cookie ourselves.

The email address and phone number on the contact page are plain links: they open your own mail or phone app. We only see anything once you write or call us yourself.

The booking system

To show availability and process bookings we use Smoobu, from Smoobu GmbH, Pappelallee 78/79, 10437 Berlin, Germany. We have a data processing agreement with Smoobu as required by Article 28 GDPR.

The booking system only loads once you ask for it yourself. As long as you do not click "Show availability", no call goes out to Smoobu and no cookie is placed. That click is your consent.

If you do click it, Smoobu places two functional cookies: a session cookie to make the booking system work, and a security cookie from Cloudflare against abuse, valid for about a year. No advertising cookies, no tracking cookies.

We remember your click for twelve months in your own browser, so you do not have to repeat it on every visit. That happens locally on your device and never reaches us. You can undo it at any time via the link under the booking system. Cookies Smoobu has already placed you clear yourself in your browser — we cannot reach those.

What you enter into the booking system goes to Smoobu. For handling your booking, Smoobu is our processor. For the security and statistics services they use themselves within their own system — including Cloudflare — Smoobu decides on its own, and these do not act on our instructions.

What we base this on

For your booking and your stay: performance of our contract with you, and for the guest register a legal obligation.

For the booking system: your explicit request to load it.

For the camera surveillance: the owner's legitimate interest in the security of his property (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Where this website runs

The website is hosted on servers in France and delivered via a European network. Ordinary server logs are kept in the process — IP address, timestamp, page requested — briefly retained for security and troubleshooting.

We ourselves do not send any data outside the European Economic Area. The booking system belongs to a German company. That system does use Cloudflare for delivery and statistics; that choice lies with Smoobu.

How long we keep data

Invoices and accounting: seven years from the end of the financial year, as required by law.

Guest and night register (name, arrival and departure date): up to one year after your departure, unless a tax or legal obligation imposes a longer period.

Booking data: up to three years after your last stay, for later queries. As long as you book through the booking system, that data is kept by Smoobu, under their terms.

Camera footage: one month. See below.

Camera surveillance

Four fixed cameras are mounted on the grounds: two over the parking area and two over the inner courtyard. They film outdoors only, 24 hours a day, though recording is not continuous. There is no camera inside anywhere — not in the rooms, not in the bathrooms, nowhere in a private space. The image stops at the property line; the street is not filmed.

They serve to establish accidents and incidents and to demonstrate damage or a break-in. They are not used to track people or assess behaviour, and there is no live monitoring.

Footage is kept for one month and then automatically overwritten, except where it forms evidence in a recorded incident. It is not passed on to anyone, except at the request of police or the courts.

The camera surveillance is registered with the authorities under reference AAW438, as required by the Camera Act, in the name of Lieven Baeyens. The legal notice with his details is posted at the entrance to the grounds. Questions about camera footage go to him, at the same address and phone number as above.

Your rights

You may ask us what data we hold about you, have it corrected or erased, have processing restricted, obtain your data in a readable format, or object. Write or call us — the details are above.

One practical limit applies to camera footage: request it within the month, because after that it no longer exists. State the day, time and location so we can find it. If other people also appear in it, we make sure their privacy stays protected.

There is no automated decision-making and no profiling takes place.
